We'll be re-opening very soon – with more information to come shortly.
3rd Bethnal Green Squirrels is where the adventure really begins. Our Squirrels are aged 4 to 6, and every week they get together to play, make friends, and discover new things.
From stories and games to simple outdoor fun, Squirrels is all about belonging, learning, and giving it a go. We give young people the chance to:
Make friends
Be part of a team from the very first meeting.
Try something new
Crafts, games, outdoor fun and more.
Learn through play
Build confidence and discover new skills in hands-on ways.
Celebrate achievements
Collect badges for trying, learning and sharing.
We can only run Squirrels with the help of adults who get stuck in alongside the young people. We’re looking for regular volunteers to join the section team and help shape the adventure each week. If that’s not possible, even a turn or two on the parents’ rota makes a big difference.
There are also opportunities to support the whole Group by joining our trustee board, which helps guide 3rd Bethnal Green Scouts behind the scenes. However much time you can spare, we’d love to have you involved.
Badges are a big part of the Squirrels’ adventure. They’re a fun way to celebrate all the new things young people try and the skills they pick up along the way.
At 3rd Bethnal Green, Squirrels can earn:
Activity Badges
Covering things like Storytime, Brilliant Builder, and Super Chef.
Challenge Awards
Bigger adventures that bring skills together, from teamwork to exploring the outdoors.
The Chief Scout’s Acorn Award
The highest award a Squirrel can achieve, earned by completing all the Challenge Awards.
Every badge tells a story: of trying something new, having fun with friends, and achieving something you might not have thought you could do.
Squirrels wear a bright red sweatshirt with the Squirrels logo on it. That’s all you need to get started. Parents don’t have to buy anything extra – trousers, shoes and coats can be whatever’s comfortable and practical.
When your young person joins, they’ll also get their group scarf (neckerchief), which shows they’re part of 3rd Bethnal Green Scouts.
Uniform is available directly from the Scout Store, where every purchase helps support Scouting nationally.
