Join the Scouts
Come and try it out for 4 weeks
You don’t need to buy uniform or start paying membership for your first few weeks until your child’s decided that they’re enjoying Scouts and want to continue. We'd ask that during this period you come along to help out and get to understand how Scouts is entirely run by volunteers.
When your child’s made up their mind that they want to join, then we get them into a uniform and after 4 weeks they can make their promise and join the group.
Uniform
Cubs wear a green jumper with the Cubs logo on it, and everyone in the group wears the same mulberry coloured scarf.
You are given your first scarf and woggle for free when you make your promise, but need to buy a Cubs jumper which costs about £16. Some of the places selling them include:
- The Scouts website
- Khalsa Schoolwear on Bethnal Green Road
- Amazon
There are lots of extra options such as polo shirts and baseball caps but you don't need to buy these.
Membership fees
Once your 4 week trial is over, we charge £10 / month subscription (subs). This covers:
- Buying badges and materials to run each week
- Hiring our hall at St Hilda's
- Insurance and your membership of The Scouts
Monthly subs are collected on the first Tuesday of every month (except for August) through Online Scout Manager and paid directly into our bank account. When you join, you will receive an email inviting you to set up a direct debit and will get an email a week before each direct debit is taken from your bank account.
